Glenn Hoddle has thrown down a challenge for his players, calling ofr them to prove they have the bottle for an end of season fight.

‘I think we’ll find out how the players respond to the pressure over the next few weeks,’ said Hoddle. ‘I would hope we’ve got players who can deal with that if we can keep ourselves in a good position – let’s hope it’s a problem we have.’

Wolves have failed toturn up for several key matches this year, that could still be their eventual undoing.

On Boxing Day they were torn to shreds by this weekends opponents and against Stoke and QPR they appeared toothless sc**ping two 0-0 draws, all three coming after a similarly disapointing display against Neil Warnock’s Blades, something praying on Hoddle’s mind.

‘I would say that we’re going to have to play a lot better than we did this season at home to Reading and against Sheffield United, which were big games.

‘How we perform against Reading will certainly give me guidance as to who can deal with the pressure.’
