Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Jonny Castro Otto made his international now for Spain in their recent Nations League game against Wales and he played his part in helping them to a 4-1 victory as a substitute and he saw his performance rewarded as he gained his first start in Monday evening’s clash with England.
Now, in fairness, with a 3-2 loss and having found themselves 3-0 down just outside of the 30 minute mark in the game, it wasn’t a great day for Spain but plenty of Wolves fans on social media were perfectly happy to praise his performance – even those sections of fan bases from elsewhere were happy to pan his showing like he was to blame for Spain’s slow and sluggish start single-handedly.
Jonny was again used in a more unfamiliar right-back role by Luis Enrique and yes he had a poor first half (but he wasn’t alone) he did show significant improvement in the second period as Spain found their gear and the game from them improved overall.
Take Jonny off, he's not very good is he? Send him back to Wolves, fit and ready for the weekend. Hope you were watching him Athletico – you might as well sell him!
