The daily grind of the Championship is what makes the Football League great.
While we would all like to remain in the Premier League, our championship winning season has remained as the highlight of recent years.
46 highly competitive games takes its toll on some teams, that’s why teams find it hard to bounce back at the first attempt after relegation from the Premier League.
Of course some teams manage it, but many more sides fail.
“If you look at the teams last season who had gone down you can look at the situation in two ways,
“None of them managed to achieve automatic promotion – but all three made it into the play-offs with West Ham going up. I think that tells you just how competitive it is and how many teams will fancy being involved in the shake-up.’ Karl Henry told the Birmingham Mail.
Some early season form will help turn the mood around Molineux, after a very poor and disappointing second half of the season.
He continued: ‘Some positive results will help bring a good feeling around the place and from there we will be up and running. It can be a long, hard slog and we have to be mentally prepared for that and ready for it.
“There are some very good teams in the Championship and, just because we have come down from the Premier League, no-one is going to just roll over for us.”
