Much like around this time last year, Mick McCarthy has switched his goalkeepers.

Last season Marcus Hahnemann came in and replaced Wayne Hennessey as our number one shot-stopper and the switch was part of a number of changes that signalled an up turn in results and kept us in the Premier League.

Our Mick has once again pulled the same trick with Wayne Hennessey replacing Marcus Hahnemann for the recent win over Sunderland.

“I`ll be sticking with him. I wouldn`t have changed it again anyway but on his performance on Saturday, it would be ridiculous to do so because he made some really good saves.’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.

Mick continued: “He was our No 1 – the best – but he had a tough time and Marcus came in. We haven`t had a clean sheet and we haven`t won games so I decided to change it.

“I think my decision was justified because Wayne played very well.”

Vital Wolves Comment: Does this prematurely call time on Marcus Hahnemann’s Wolves career?

The 38-year-old American’s contract expires in the summer and I’ve seen rumours that he is considering a move to the MLS, perhaps he might consider a move in January ahead of the American season starting in March?
