Despite the transfer window being closed, international breaks are now guaranteed to kickstart speculation on the rumour mill as outlets look to fill the space vacated by proper football, and given Wolverhampton Wanderers’ rise in recent seasons, we probably see it more than most.
Russian media outlet Riafan have claimed recently that Wolves had sent scouts to watch striker Artem Dzyuba as he turned out for his country in the Euro 2020 qualifier with Scotland last Friday.
It’s a strange suggestion given how we have conducted our business in recent years following the arrival of Fosun as our owners, as Dzyuba is a 31-year-old, but he does have a good goalscoring record for Zenit St Petersburg with Soccerbase stating that he has 87 goals in 193 starts across his career, and for Zenit directly he’s apparently scored 51 times in 118 starts.
His international record isn’t too bad either with 21 goals for Russia in 37 appearances, but it seems the main driver for our interest is he’s apparently switched to Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency recently – so the obvious link has been made.
Not bad

31 years old. Wouldn’t have thought this would be a player we would go after. We didn’t go for Rondom cause of his age and he was younger.

Like who though? For every Maddison there are 20 failures. And they cost at least 5 times as much.
