Wolves goaltender Marcus Hahnemann is set to fight Hennessey for the jersey now that he has tasted competitive soccer with Wolves.

The American keeper joined from Reading during the summer many thought he might stroll straight into the side.

But the 37-year-old has so far had to play second fiddle to his younger counterpart: “I don`t want to sit on the bench, I want to play and I told Wayne that right when I came here.’ He told the Express & Star.

Hahnemann went on to add that he was going to fight for the jersey: “He`s got the No 1 shirt right now, so I have got to push on and fight for his place.

“Carl wants to play and Matt will want to play when he comes back, so that is what the competition brings.
