Nuno Espirito Santo has been full of praise for Oskar Buur this season and regards the 22-year-old as a first-team player moving forward. Buur has finally broken into Wolverhampton Wanderers’ senior squad after joining three years ago and is now Matt Doherty’s direct replacement at right-back.
The Danish defender has only made a handful of appearances for Nuno and may have competition from Luke Matheson in 2020/21, but supporters from We are Wolves want to see Buur stay in the squad next season and believe he has the potential to become a regular in the future.
Gary Stanley: “Keep him. Great potential.”
김기수: “He did nothing wrong. Just needs more game time (and) a bit of defensive work.”
Luke Keane: “Great potential, just needs the game time. 100% a keeper.”
Wesley Griffiths: “Always done well when he’s had a chance in the first-team. Looks a good player from the little I’ve seen of him.”
Matt Green: “He’s still developing, needs more game time. (The) only way he’s gonna get that is (by) staying here (and) us not signing more competition.”
Bhupinder Masaun: “Very good player..will be excellent in years to come..”
Graham Palmer: “Keep him.”
Gary Clarke: “Good player but needs to fill out a bit.”
Richard Hinton: “Done well for us so far.”
Thomas Porter: “He’s looked solid when he’s played. Just a good all-round player.”
James Falla: “Did well.”
Neil Kyte: “Impressive from what I have seen.”
Steve Cole: “Like what I’ve seen so far. Good lad.”
Jonathan Broom: “Was quality in all four games. Give him some first-team experience again.”
Edward Evans: “Gonna be some player.”
David Johnston: “(He’s) bulked up now and looked promising in recent games.”
Nige Wilby: “Very promising player.”
Buur joined Wolves on a free transfer from Brabrand IF in 2017 and has gone on to make four appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal. The 22-year-old has featured 50 times for the U23s and has been rewarded for his progression with a place in the first-team.
Buur was teetering between the reserves and the seniors before the season was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but he should now be a regular fixture in the matchday squad. Fans certainly hope that will be the case.
