It has been reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing record-breaking Chinese winger Wu Lei.
Wolves are interested in signing China star Wu Lei. The right-sided forward is second highest goalscorer in Chinese Super League history. However he picked up an injury on Saturday so any move is on hold #wwfc https://t.co/aL91mkr75E

The E&S reported our apparent interest in the player this week but fans have been torn on whether such a signing is representative of his qualities on the pitch or his status in China in terms of simply raising our profile.
The 26-year-old winger does have a decent record though, he has scored eleven goals in 52 caps for his country and he holds legendary status at Shanghai SIPG – he’s their record goalscorer with 155 goals and their record appearance holder with 328 games. He’s also said to be close to breaking the all-time Chinese Super League goalscoring record.
Reports of our interest may be premature though, as any move will be waiting on medical advice as he’s believed to have suffered an Achilles injury following their 5-1 victory over Beijing Renhe last Saturday.
Time will tell if we have a genuine interest but it’s a new name on me and seems to have come around as the Adama Traore speculation starts to lose its pull.
Would rather Lei or Leo alongside a proven striker from a top league rather than relying on both for goals

Still worth a shot we need someone up front to finish chances created like other teams at top of premier.

He's a great finisher imo, but chinese league defending looks worse than league one, they left lot of spaces, think any half decent championship would score in that league

Agree mate rather see a quality CB and a cover CM than see a striker come in tbh

undoubtedly an aspect of marketing but as far as Chinese players go his pedigree can't get much better.

Who says he can’t make a statement? Massive hero in the most populous (and relatively untapped world) football market. Tonnes of potential viewers for our club, shirt sales and fan base growth. And his YouTube goal reel is rather tasty.

I think both are massively important. He wouldn’t be being talked about if he wasn’t any good, so it would be a gamble worth taking, I reckon. I don’t see many other strikers on the table.

Have faith in the club. Had you heard of cav, Jota, Barry Douglas before they signed? Boly? We have to trust the club knows what is doing.

Makes good business sense whether he's any good or not!

Probably did know it would happen eventually, still doesn't make any sense to me though if were aiming for where they say

Wolves want to expand and grow our name / club in China… so we sign a Chinese superstar… and you say it makes no sense ?
