One of the minor rumours doing the rounds at Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer has been a potential interest in young Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara.

The rumours linking us with a move for the highly rated 21-year-old have been pretty regular, but there has rarely been anything resembling a concrete interest in him.

Report Claims Former Wolves Target Is Now Available For Only 18m – Maybe Worth A Punt

With an initial value reported as 40million Euros to get a deal done, last week it was suggested that former Chelsea gaffer Carlo Ancelotti had now made his mind up on the player and just wanted him gone, so speculation suggested he would be available for around the £18million mark.

At that fee, if we had an interest, I felt he was probably worth a punt as even if the Guinea international didn’t really settle at the Molineux, his fee at that price wouldn’t drop by much -if at all really.

As this week came to a close though, there was a claim from Sky Italia suggested that we’d made our interest known, but the player had rejected us, preferring a move to Roma.

In my mind, if that’s true, we move on and he’s missed his chance but fans reacting to the claim on social media thought there might still be legs in it.
