“Get Tired Just Watching Him” – Pundit Hails Hard Working Wolves Star After Saturday’s Showing

|

Having had a poor start to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign as it seemed Wolverhampton Wanderers were already struggling with our early start to the campaign owing to Europa League commitments, we got ourselves up and running at the Molineux on Saturday as we took a 2-0 victory over Raul Jimenez’s favourite side – Watford.

With plenty of improvements on show on the afternoon, Republic of Ireland international Matt Doherty got us off the mark in the 18th minute of the game and a Daryl Janmaat own goal tied up the three points just after the hour mark.

Statistics website Whoscored had already handed the 27-year-old their star man award for Man of Match, but that wasn’t where the praise ended as BBC pundit Garth Crooks also named him in his Team of the Week feature after the last round of fixtures.

“The goal that was carved out for Doherty to sidefoot home was glorious. The more I see of Doherty, the harder he seems to work. I get tired just watching him. If ever a man deserves a goal it is the Republic of Ireland international. This was a game Wolves had to win. European football has been a terrible distraction for this club and the sooner they get to grips with the Premier League again the better.”

Few will disagree with his comments and that first win should be massive as we turn thoughts back to Thursday’s clash with Besiktas.
