Dean Richards’s funeral was held in Bradford today.

Richards lost his long term battle with illness on Saturday, he was just 36.

Former Wolves team mates Robbie Keane, Don Goodman and Tony Daley attended the service at Bradford Cathedral.

Richards joined Wolves in 1995 initially on loan, but after 10 appearances, he was then signed permanently for a then whopping £1,850,000.

During his time at Molineux he played for England Under-21’s four times.

He went on to make a further 130 appearances for Wolves over the next four years.

He then moved to Southampton on a free transfer before he made a £8,100,000 move to Tottenham in 2001.

After four years with Spurs he was forced to retire in March 2005 after he was diagnosed with an inner ear infection.

He went on to become a youth-team coach at his hometown club at Bradford City.

The news has left all of his former clubs and supporters mourning his loss.

‘Wolves would like to take this opportunity to send their condolences to the former Molineux defender’s family and friends.’

‘There will be a tribute paid to the defender ahead of next Sunday’s game with his former club Spurs.’

Bradford’s Official Website read: ‘The football club are truly devastated to hear of the death of former Bradford City fans’ favourite Dean Richards.’

‘Everyone at Bradford City would like to offer their deepest condolences to his friends and family during this testing time.’

Southampton’s Official Website read: ‘It is with deep sadness and regret that Southampton Football Club has learned of the untimely death of former player Dean Richards.’

‘The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with his family and friends at this difficult time.’

Tottenham’s Official Website read: ‘Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur was saddened to hear of the death of our former player Dean Richards, who passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 36 after a long-term battle with serious illness.’

‘There will be a tribute paid to the defender ahead of our fixture next Sunday at Molineux against his former club Wolves.

‘We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Dean Richards at this very sad time.’
