Jez Moxey has upped the stakes in Alicante, raising Wolves interest in Tomasz Frankowski to 1.8 million Euro’s.

How much longer can Elche’s President Ramon Sanchez hang on to his star player?.

A private meeting has taken place between Sanchez, Director of Sport Patxi Iru, and Elche coach Yosu Uribe to discuss the latest offer, that must surely be testing the Elche Presidents resolve.

Spanish sources report Frankowski’s initial fee to Elche was 600,000 Euro’s. The chance to triple that sum and recruit a new forward has to be seriously considered.

One possible replacement being talked about for Frankowski could be Grzegorz Piechna, a fellow Pole and leading scorer in his homeland, who has just cooled talks of a move to Birmingham City.

He would leave Elche still in pocket to the tune of 800,000 Euros, and is 2 years younger than Frankowski. But Elche already have concerns over the timing of preparations for Germany 06. It means losing their main striker before their season ends, and the same would apply to Grzegorz Piechna.

With every day its looking more likely The Polish Ram will become Wolf. Offers of 1.8 million Euros for a 31 year old striker arent going to come Elche’s way too often. And the Spanish press are lining up his replacement already. How much longer can Ramon Sanchez stand fast to Wolves relentless pressure?
