Tomasz Frankowski has spoken of his collapsed move to Wolverhampton Wanderers. And he is very eager to to ensure all of Spain knows the move wasn’t his idea.

‘The move was never my idea, it was the English club’s’ he told the Spanish media.

He went on to say that leaving Alicante had never entered his mind, and that he has only ever wanted to help Elche get promotion to La Liga, and that he has so far shown that in the goals he has scored.

News of Wolves interest in Frankowski first emerged after the player had rather indescretely discussed the clubs offer with the Polish press. At the time he seemed quite positive about the move, and his 20% pay increase.

But since then negotiations with Elche have stalled over their valuation of the 31 year old Pole. And now Tomasz couldnt be happier basking in the Spanish sunshine.

‘ My commitment to Elche, and their plans is total. I want to continue scoring goals for Elche to prepare me for the World Cup’ he went on to say.

This would appear to contradict previous statements from his people saying they were very happy with the terms Frankowski was offered, and his apparent pleasure at the terms, and teh move.

Whatever the truth, Frankowski seems very eager not to alienate any of Elche’s supporters, which could well consign this deal to the ‘what might have been’ tray. Wolves search for a striker continues, with just over 2 weeks of the transfer window left.
