“Formal Offer” In For Long Standing Wolves Target According To Reports

One of the more regular fixtures on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ summer transfer rumour mill has been the speculation linking us with Raul Jimenez’ international colleague Edson Alvarez.

It’s long been reported that Wolves had already struck an agreement with the player and all that remained was negotiations on his fee as we looked for best value even though he had a claimed £8million release fee, and although news went quiet for a few weeks, it was recently claimed that Dutch side Ajax were attempting to beat us to his signature as they had offered up £12.5million in an effort to gazump us.

As the week came to a close the speculation caught up with itself and Mexican outlet Record (via the Birmingham Mail suggested that we had now made a ‘formal offer’ for the player in an effort to counteract Ajax’s move for the 21-year-old talent.

As expected, this rumour is going to run and run but when Alvarez’s international action comes to an end at the Gold Cup, his future shouldn’t take too long to sort and then we’ll see if our interest was genuine or not.
