John Ruddy could be on his way out of Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer as he’s out of contract in the coming months and has been on the periphery under Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 33-year-old is playing second fiddle to Rui Patricio and may be considering his options as he’s been short of playing time since 2018, but a lot of supporters from We are Wolves still want him to stay.

Ruddy is one of the better backup goalkeepers in the Premier League and could be playing regular football elsewhere, but it remains to be seen what Wolves will do. It’s also unknown whether the England international wants to stay in a subsidiary role.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Jimmy Thompson: “Extend his stay. Good, quality goalkeeper for (a) little price.”

John Darnbrook: “My understanding is they have offered/will offer him a contract and it will be up to him to either stay or go in search of first-team football.”

Nathan S Cross: “I hope we could scout an up-and-coming keeper but could still rely on (Ruddy) if needed.”

Rich Walton: “If he wants to stay I’d keep him.”

Daniel Sandhu: “He’s good value – took us up to the Premier League, then to the (FA Cup) semis last year. Decent on the whole when called upon. Saves penalties. Money well spent.”

Graham Palmer: “Offer 1yr contract with reduced pay. He’s 33 and is 2nd choice. It would be upto him.”

Stuart Simon: “I’d prefer to keep him..solid decent keeper, but will he want to stay as a second choice?”

Mark Andrews: “Great keeper keep him.”

Rik Benbow: “Being selfish (as he deserves to be playing), I would keep him as back up for a couple more seasons. Maybe offer him a new contract with an offer of him moving up into coaching?”

Mitchell Blakemore: “I’d love to keep Ruddy, but for his career he will probably move on. He would be first-choice in a lower positioned side tbf.”

Edward Woodward: “I’d love him to stay, he does alot behind the scenes. But he’s a top-quality keeper, so you can’t blame him if he wants to leave for first-team football.”

Dave Kingston: “Rather keep him. Great backup goalie.”

Wayne Bennett: “Keep him!”

Ruddy joined Wolves on a free transfer from Norwich City in 2017 and has gone on to make 60 appearances in all competitions, conceding 49 goals and making 31 clean sheets.

The 33-year-old was a regular in his debut season, making 45 appearances, but he’s been second-choice since Wolves were promoted to the Premier League and since Patricio was brought in from Sporting CP.

If Ruddy leaves Wolves, Nuno will have to bring in a replacement.
