Explained: Wolves may have to pay £20m and £312k in wages to sign 23-year-old

Despite having Pedro Neto (15 PL appearances, one goal, two assists), Diogo Jota (19 appearances, three goals) and Adama Traore (21 appearances, four goals, four assists) to choose from in wide areas, Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to strengthen their attack in the January transfer window.

One player Tim Spiers of The Athletic says is on their radar is Jarrod Bowen of Hull City. The 23-year-old has been outstanding in the Championship this season, scoring and creating 21 goals in 27 games, but he won’t come cheap.

Bowen has a £20m asking price and earns £312k-a-year at Hull. Wolves can certainly afford him, but it remains to be seen if their potential pursuit will be successful.

Nuno Espirito Santo won’t be the only Premier League manager keen on the wide-man, so Wolves are likely to have competition for his signature this month.

Bowen has spent four years at the KCOM Stadium, making 128 appearances in all competitions. He’s scored (54) and created (13) 67 goals for the Tigers and is currently one of the best players in the Championship.
