Explained: How will Wolves line up against Norwich?

|

Wolverhampton Wanderers travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich City and will hope to return to winning ways after their last-gasp defeat to Tottenham on Sunday. Despite coming off the back of a loss, Nuno Espirito Santo may back the same starting XI against the Canaries as they performed well at Molineux.

Nuno made changes to his side for Wolves’ Europa League excursions due to the fixture list piling up at the start of the month. The Midlands outfit played three games in eight days – 2-0 win over West Ham United (December 4), 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion (December 8), 4-0 win over Besiktas (December 12). Wolves have had six days to prepare this time, however.

In defence, Nuno should name a back-three of Conor Coady, Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker to protect Rui Patricio in goal. Wolves boast two clean sheets in their last four appearances, so the defence has been doing its job.

In midfield, Ruben Neves should partner Joao Moutinho. Jonny Otto and Matt Doherty are expected to start on the left and right-wing respectively.

In attack, Raul Jimenez should lead the line. The 28-year-old has contributed 23 goals in 28 appearances while featuring in every league game so far. Diogo Jota should keep his place after notching five goals in his last three outings. Adama Traore could also overcome a shoulder injury to start again.

Predicted XI vs Norwich (3-4-3): Patricio; Coady, Saiss, Dendocker; Doherty, Neves, Moutinho, Jonny; Jota, Jimenez, Traore
