Ruben Vinagre made his return from injury in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 3-0 win over Norwich City on Sunday, coming off the bench in the 80th minute for Jonny Otto.

The 20-year-old damaged his hamstring in Wolves’ FA Cup defeat to Manchester United (January 15) and was ruled out for the long-term. He’s returned much sooner than expected, however, and Nuno Espirito Santo explained why.

The Wolves manager told Joe Edwards of the Express and Star: “It has to do with him and the way he treats himself, the way he works. When he’s injured, he works. He doesn’t stop. It makes your recovery faster.”

Vinagre has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals. The Portuguese u21 international missed five games through injury and was diligent in his rehabilitation to fast-track his return to the matchday squad.

He’s played second fiddle to Jonny at left-back for most of the campaign, amassing only 348 minutes of Premier League football, but has impressed when called upon.

Wolves finished the weekend eighth in the table with 39 points from 27 matches and returned to winning ways after a three-game wait. The Midlands outfit next face Espanyol in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 clash.
