Braga are confident that Wolves will pay their £23million asking price to complete the signing of attacker Paulinho, a report from The Daily Mail has claimed.

The striker scored 25 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions this season, and it seems as though that has drawn plenty of attention his way.

According to the latest reports, Wolves remain in talks with Braga about the possibility of bringing the 27-year-old to Molineux, as they look to force their way back into European football next season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s are not alone in their interest in Paulinho however, with Lazio reportedly seeing a £14million offer for the forward rejected by Braga, who are said to believe that Wolves will pay the full £23million valuation to sign the player.

Indeed, there is little pressure on Braga to sell to Wolves, Lazio, or any other club who might be interested in Paulinho, with three years remaining on the player’s contract, securing his future at his current club until the end of the 2022/23 season.

As a result, you feel that Wolves may well have to go big if they are to bring Paulinho to Molineux this summer, and it does seem vital that they do that.

The heavy fixture congestion from the season just gone did rather expose the lack of depth in Nuno’s squad, and even with no European football coming up next season, you feel that is something they will be desperate to address in order to give key players such as Raul Jimenez a break.

When you look at Paulinho’s record for Braga last season, there doesn’t seem to be much doubt that he might be capable of taking up the task of leading the Wolves line from Jimenez when necessary.

Add to that the fact that returning to Europe for the 2021/22 season is likely to be something of a priority for Wolves next year, those things combined mean that this could be a crucial transfer for the club to get right in the coming weeks.
