The 3rd Round FA Cup game at Molineux on Saturday ended in the result that neither Wolves or Swansea will have wanted as they now have an additional fixture on January 16th with a replay at the Liberty Stadium. It was a reasonably entertaining affair with neither team able to find the winning goal although it was Wolves that looked the more likely to get the breakthrough for most of the game.

Not for the first time recently there were red cards to disrupt the flow of the game. There have now been 8 red cards in the last 10 Wolves games with 6 of those going to the opposition and 2 to Wolves. Ruben Vinagre was the Wolves player to get the card this time 5 minutes before half time. The numbers were evened out when Fer hacked down Costa midway through the 2nd half.

Norris 7 – playing in his 4th Wolves first team game, all in cup ties with three of those games against Premier League opposition. He has yet to concede a goal other than in the Man City penalty shoot out, and looked more than capable here.
Bennett 7 – another steady defensive game
Coady 7 – never has a poor game
Hause 7 – an impressive performance. Looks much more comfortable on the ball than a year ago, defended well but missed a decent headed chance to win the game late on.
Doherty 7 – like Coady just keeps turning out good consistent performances
N’Diaye 8 – made the most of his chance here with a dynamic display. Won lots of tackles, his distribution was good and covered a lot of ground with his long stride making him a difficult player to play against
Gibbs White 7 – good to see him get a chance and after a slow start was warming to the game until he was the man sacrificed when Vinagre was sent off
Vinagre 5 – having a quiet game until catching a Swansea player with an over the ball block that was more careless than reckless
Costa 8 – much more like the Costa of last season here and was a constant threat to the visitors. Could be a real asset in the second half of the season
Bonatini 8 – had a couple of games rest recently and that seems to have helped as he was a livewire here with his usual good link up play
Enobakhare 6 – a real enigma in the Wolves squad. Showed some magical ability at times and was close to the breakthrough early on but then wasted so many good positions with careless play or wrong decisions. Maybe a loan out to get regular games is what he needs at this stage
Mir 7 – his first action was a shot from 40 yards that could probably have been saved by my grandmother. But impressed after with good movement, had 4 attempts on goal in his 15 minutes on the pitch including a fine header that bought a full length diving save from the keeper.

At least the replay will give another chance to some of these players to get more game time.

The likes of Neves, Jota, Boly and Saiss were not in the squad as they earned a well timed break before resuming league duties next weekend.

Also absent from the team were Jack Price, who looks set to go to USA to join Colorado Rapids, and Miranda who is linked with a move back to Portugal with Braga interested. Other absentees included Marshall and Zyro who may well be on their way out of the club this month.

Back to the league on Saturday at Barnsley, before the Swansea replay the following Tuesday, with the next Molineux game being against Forest on Jan 20th.
