Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Dave Edwards has received the call from Welsh manager Chris Coleman and he takes up a place in their squad for the European Championships in France this summer.

The 30 year old has 30 caps to his name, and he has been named today in Coleman’s final 23 man squad for the Euros this year and having more than played his part in the qualification to their first major tournament – since before I was born – a broken metatarsal in January in the game against Queens Park Rangers put his place in doubt.

Having recovered well and shown his fitness, he takes up the spot having come back into head coach Kenny Jackett’s thoughts for the final seven games of the Championship campaign – playing in six of them and finding the net against Hull City.

Having spent a week in Portugal on a training camp, they are now building towards the Group B opener against Slovakia on Saturday June 11, the clash against England on Thursday June 16, before facing Russia on Monday June 20.
