Eastwood No More?

Southend United boss Steve Tilson last night rubbished reports that a deal between Wolves, Southend and Freddy Eastwood had been agreed.

The Express and Star reported last week that a deal had been struck with the southern club and on Saturday ran a story stating the Welsh International would sign ‘within days’ but Southend have gone and dismissed the reports.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Steve Tilson last night said ‘It’s all hollow speculation at the moment. Wolves have so far only made one low offer and that was immediately rejected.’

It was reported that a first bid of £750,000 had been rejected by Southend, however Tilson confirmed the offer made by Wolves was for £1.5M, a figure which still doesn’t match their valuation.

‘The Chairman doesn’t want to sell Freddy and an offer of £1.5 million is well below the market value of such a proven goalscorer. For the time being he is a Southend player and that is fine with all of us’ added Tilson.

If this is the case – are Wolves willing to pay more than £1.5 million, most likely 2, when they can have an offer accepted for Billy Sharp, the wolves fans favourite, for £2 million plus a few thousand more after promotion… I don’t think so somehow…

Lets just hope what Steve Tilson said last night was rubbish, and is just trying to keep the signing low key.
