After 2 wins and 2 draws in our last four games, the heavy defeat came as a bit of a shock to the system at the weekend.

The defeat itself didn’t, a trip to Newcastle is never easy, just ask Aston Villa, Sunderland, Liverpool and West Ham who have also come away from the North East with their tails between their legs.

The problem with this result was the manner in which it came when it looked like we had turned a corner.

“It was a one-off, a blip and if you give goals away, you can`t win games. We just have to keep our calm.’ our Mick told the Express & Star.

He added: “Last weekend was our biggest defeat and the worst set of results against us we`ve had all season.

“It was probably on a par with our poorest performance and yet we`re one point worse off, so it hasn`t done us too much damage.

Vital Wolves Comment: In terms of the league table, Mick is of course correct, the league is so tight this season that when one team picks up a result another slips up.

With only a final few games remaining, many of us would have taken being just one point from safety at the start of the year. Especially when you add into the equation the amount of points every team in the bottom half has secured this season.

We’re still only three points away from 14th, so expect many more twists and turns to come.
