Wolverhampton Wanderers are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Matt Doherty in the one nil victory over Ipswich Town at the weekend at Portman Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Doherty was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Doherty`s finish was enough to see Wolverhampton Wanderers take all three points at Ipswich Town and, in turn, return to winning ways in the Sky Bet Championship. The full-back headed home Barry Douglas` cross from the left to put the visitors ahead, and performed his defensive duties ably as the Tractor Boys were held.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Doherty for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Craig MacGillivray (Shrewsbury Town), Dan Potts (Luton Town), Ronnie Henry (Stevenage), Matt Doherty (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham), David Worrall (Port Vale), Korey Smith (Bristol City), Jamie Devitt (Carlisle United), Marc Richards (Swindon Town), Coady McDonald (Wimbledon), Tom Eaves (Gillingham).

Manager – Chris Powell (Southend United).
