Travelling Wolverhampton Wanderers fans saw three debutants in our EFL Cup fourth round clash at Villa Park against Aston Villa, and our youthful lads put on a plucky display in many ways against our significantly more experienced hosts.
The three fresh faces on show were Academy graduates Dion Sanderson (19), Taylor Perry (18) and Chem Campbell (16) and I don’t think either of them let themselves down, although granted, they have plenty to still improve on but it’s always a process and the experience should serve them very well in their development.
Sanderson took to social media following the game to reflect on the showing and the night he had and he certainly had the right outlook on it, even if the result wasn’t what anyone would’ve wanted – even given the starting XI selection by head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
What a night to remember making my debut ⚽️although it’s not the result we wanted it was a great experience for myself and the younger lads who played ❤️ Massive thank you to the fans who came and supported us 🐺🧡🖤🧡

It struck the right chord with fans who praised him, and the other younger lads on show, for their efforts.
