Wolverhampton Wanderers deal for Northampton Town striker Ivan Toney collapsed due to a failed medical according to reports.

The deal was initially set to be a loan move, but would have become permanent in January after the two clubs agreed a fee which would have risen to around £1million.

But with everything seemingly agreed, the deal was off.

There was rumour that another Championship club had put in an offer, there was even the suggestion that Toney had turned down our offer.

But the Express & Star believe that Toney failed his medical.

The paper stated: Wolves pulled out of a £500,000 deal to sign Northampton Town striker Ivan Toney because he failed a medical.

Wolves Head Coach Kenny Jackett would not clarify the situation but said: “There`s a number of things, but it didn`t come off. The exact nature of it has to stay confidential, but the interest isn`t there now.

“We wish the player all the best and we move on.”
