I think most Wolverhampton Wanderers fans were expecting heavy speculation about the future of midfield star Ruben Neves this summer and the transfer rumour mill hasn’t disappointed.

Having taken the Championship by storm as we powered to the second tier title and promotion, it was a slower start this season as the club adjusted to the top flight, but once he found his feet again the 22-year-old Portuguese international hasn’t looked back.

40 appearances across all competitions, four goals and three assists in the league itself and it was only natural that speculation linking him with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City would return.

Wolves fans can certainly sleep a little easier after a recent interview he did with the Official Website as he reflected on our first season back in the Premier League, as it certainly doesn’t sound like he expects to be anywhere other than the Molineux next season.

“It’s been a tremendous year for the club. Tremendous for us, players, staff, all the fans, I think it was a great season. We achieved seventh place in our first year in the Premier League, it’s not easy, it means that we worked really hard and fortunately we gave this for our fans that’ve helped us a lot during all the season. We have the feeling of mission accomplished. We did a great season, with good and bad moments, but always with the focus on our goal. We achieved seventh place in Premier League, which is great result for a team that came from Championship.”

Adding about the fans and our home ground.

“It’s been unbelievable. I think the best atmosphere that I’ve played in, in England at Molineux. I think it’s really difficult to play there, so thank you for the support, thank you all. I can’t wait for us again next season to do things well.”
