There goes my puns for the remainder of the season as Jelle van Damme has been flogged off to Standard Liege.

What a complete waste of time for all concerned!

The 27-year-old only came to Molineux 5-months-ago in a deal worth £2.5million and after just 6 Premier League appearances totalling just 278 minutes, he’s off back to Belgium.

Thankfully we have recouped the transfer fee after holding talks with both Standard Liege and former club Anderlecht.

‘We can confirm that we have agreed a deal for the transfer of Jelle Van Damme to Standard Liege subject to the paperwork being completed over the next 48 hours.’ Wolves CEO Jez Moxey told Wolves Official Website.

With the transfer window not open until January you would expect him to hang around for a month and remain available for Mick McCarthy over the course of December, but that doesn’t appear to be the case as he will actually start training with his new club immediately.

Jez added: ‘Once the deal goes through Jelle will leave us with immediate effect, but will not be able to play for Standard Liege until the transfer window re-opens on January 1 and international clearance is granted.

‘The agreement has been struck in exactly the same way as when we brought Jelle to the club from Anderlecht in June, meaning we receive the entire fee in the same way as we paid it.’

Vital Wolves Comment: Cheerio then.
