Confusing report claims Wolves offered €5m for 23 y/o in January but could sign him for €2m

|

According to Fotospor, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford offered €5m (£4.36m) for Aurelio Buta but saw their bids rejected by Royal Antwerp. Fotospor say the two Premier League clubs may have the chance to sign him for €2m (£1.74m) this summer, however.

In addition to Wolves and Watford, the 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Galatasaray and may be subject to a bid from the Turkish club in the coming months. Fatih Terim is very keen to bring Buta to Gala, but it remains to be seen where the right-back will end up given all the interest.

The Portuguese U20 international joined Antwerp on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell the previous season and has gone on to make a total of 72 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and making 13 assists. He’s been a regular under László Bölöni, but his future is up in the air as his contract is up next year.

Sport Witness say Antwerp may have to consider cashing in if they can’t get Buta to sign a new deal. Gala are weighing up a €2m (£1.74m) offer but may wait before lodging the bid as the 23-year-old’s value will drop this summer. Whether Wolves or Watford will return for Buta remains to be seen, but they could land him for less than half of what they paid months ago.
