Earlier this month, reports surfaced suggesting that Wolverhampton Wanderers had joined the chase for League One goalkeeper and Welsh international Adam Davies, who currently plys his trade with Barnsley.

2018/19 has been a good year for the 26-year-old stopper as he helped them to automatic promotion back to the Championship as they finished in second spot after their earlier relegation, and the player was named in the PFA’s League One Team of the Season on the back of his showings.

With doubts about John Ruddy who will no doubt want greater game time following the arrival of Rui Patricio, Davies made sense, especially as this summer he was set to become a free agent.

Barnsley confirmed their retained and released list at the tail end of last week, and expectedly, he has been offered a new contract with them.

If we have an interest in him a new deal won’t bring any transfer to an end, it might just be a way of him repaying some loyalty to the club he signed for back in 2014 to ensure they receive a fee of some kind possibly, but one to watch.
