Wolves have completed the signing of defender Toti Gomes from Estoril, the Portuguese second-tier side have announced in a statement on their official website.

Gomes has yet to make a senior appearance for Estoril, instead featuring for their Under 23s side, although it seems Wolves are confident in the 21-year-old’s abilities, after seemingly completing a deal to bring him to Molineux.

However, it seems as though Gomes is going to have to wait sometime before he is able to taste action in a Wolves shirt.

Reports on Wednesday from Record in Portugal, claimed that the defender will sign a five-year contract with Wolves this summer, before being loaned out to Grasshoppers Zurich for the coming campaign.

The Swiss club were recently taken over by Hong Kong-based Company Champion Union HK Holdings, who are managed by Jenny Wang, the wife of Wolves owner Guo Guangchang.

There are already two young Wolves players out on loan at Grasshoppers in the shape of Conor Ronan and Renat Dadashov, meaning a move there for Gomes might not be all that surprising.

After what has been a quiet summer transfer window so far with no incomings as yet, it is good to see Wolves are finally making moves towards some sort of signings, although you feel a young defender who could be headed straight out on loan is not what any fan would have had at the top of their list of priorities.

Even so, Gomes’ lack of experience means it would be ridiculous to even suggests he is ready to compete in the Premier League next season, and as such, a loan move elsewhere in order to develop his game and gain some senior experience, looks to be the best thing for him at this moment in time.
