Earlier this week the rumour mill surrounding Wolverhampton Wanderers kicked into a higher gear than is now usual and it was being reported that we’d made a ‘verbal offer’ for Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson.

I didn’t cover the original claim as it was clearly a piece of invented media nonsense, whether agent led or not and the French based report was illogical. If Wolves have interest in the 24-year-old we’d have either made an enquiry or a firm offer to formally open negotiations…a verbal £36million offer is obviously something that belongs in the bathroom.

Add that to the fact he signed a deal extension with them until 2022 back in December, and if we had any interest, he’d have known (it’s how football now works), it makes our interest even less likely as all of our transfer dealings are done in advance.

Rather unsurprisingly this week, La Provence via Birmingham Mail have completely rubbished the initial speculation, citing the players’ own representatives who confirm that no approach has been made for their client by the club.

I wonder how many days will pass before someone claims an exclusive that we are back in for him?
