John Ruddy will spend a fourth season at Wolverhampton Wanderers after the Midlands outfit announced they’d triggered a contract extension and supporters are delighted with the news.
The 33-year-old looked on his way out this summer as a new deal was reportedly on the table for some time without being signed, but Wolves clearly had no intention of letting Ruddy leave.

The England international has made 60 appearances in all competitions since joining Wolves from Norwich City in 2017, conceding 49 goals and keeping 31 clean sheets. Ruddy lost his starting place between the sticks when Rui Patricio was signed in 2018, but he’s been an able No.2 ever since.
The 33-year-old has only made 15 appearances in the last two seasons, 30% of what he made in 2017/18 alone, but he seems content with his role. Supporters recognise his professional attitude to being a No.2 and have been impressed with his performances.
Ruddy is described as one of the best backup goalkeepers in the Premier League, so Wolves would have a tough time replacing the 33-year-old if his contract was allowed to expire. Regardless, the right decision was eventually made and fans are pleased Ruddy will be kept for one more season.
