Yesterday evening it was being reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers had stepped up their speculated chase of Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore by taking the Riverside Stadium outfit out of the equation with a bid that met his release fee.

That fee is speculated to be £18million and it’s not the first time we have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old former Aston Villa man. In amongst stories about Yerry Mina, Barry Douglas and various other transfer links and rehashes, the Sun did report that it was a case of deal done and all that now needed to take place was personal terms being finalised and a medical.

They further claim that having activated his buy out clause, we are prepared to pay it in one single lump sum to grease things along and there is even a claim we will give him the contract he is asking for. Which doesn’t sound sensible and wouldn’t be in keeping with our moves so far but we can probably ignore that, as I fail to see why we’d pay the full sum in one go either.

Adding weight to this is he sat out of their most recent pre-season friendly, so this one could well be accurate.
