Striker Leo Bonatini has been reflecting on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ victory over Birmingham City in our last game and he praised the fans for helping the team over the line in the derby.

Heading to St Andrew’s for the tie, Wolves took a one nil win with Bonatini finding the net in the eighth minute, and speaking to the Official Website with the players back in training this week, Bonatini said that with the noise the travelling fans generated it felt like a home game.

It was Bonatini’s 12th strike of the season so far and it put us four points clear at the top of the Championship.

‘It`s three points more and we knew that it would be a tough game here. We know we could have played better but the most important thing is that we`ve got the three points and we go home with three more points. We had a while before the game without playing and maybe we found some difficulties in playing but we knew it was a derby, and we came here to play a tough game, but the fans came here to support us.’

The Brazilian went on to say.

‘They made us run for them, they really helped us – it`s really nice and we`re happy that we got three points. We need to keep working, we still have a long time to go and there are still many games in the league. Everyone is playing well, even the guys that come on to the pitch are doing well – everyone is working hard. We are together, we are a family here and we are chasing our target.’

With 12 goals in 20 games, he’s also our leading goalscorer and he again credited the support of the fans and the impact they have on everyone.

‘The fans are with us all the time. When we play away, we feel like we are playing at home – all of the time they come to support us. We try and play well to give them the happiness to come here and enjoy the game. We know we didn`t play so well but we take the three points against a difficult opponent. It`s three important points and we hope to be better in the next game.’
