Are Wolves Set To Upset Aston Villa Fans Again – I’d Quite Like This Rumour To Be True

|

Aston Villa’s on loan Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has featured regularly on the rumour mill as the January transfer window neared, and now it’s time for the press to link him with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The claim is that Chelsea will recall the in-form forward looking to do a quick sale this month and that’s seen him linked to a number of Premier League and Championship sides – although Villa have played down talk of a recall.

I have no reason to believe this is anything but the rumour mill doing what it does, however, unlike some of the speculation, 21-year-old Abraham clearly has the Championship nailed with his goalscoring form at that level so his next development will be the Premier League.

He has experience there with Swansea City in 2017/18 and in 15 top flight starts he scored five goals, but they had a disappointing season and that would’ve affected his form.

For me, he’s actually the type of player that it would make sense to make a punt on so I quite hope we do actually have an interest in him, as if Chelsea aren’t asking silly money, even if it doesn’t work out, with transfer inflation in the game we’d at least break even in the future.

If it works out, we’d have a cracking goalscorer on our hands!

Especially if the £18million punt is close to being accurate.

NB – There are now suggestions that his Community Shield appearance, as well as an Under 23 game for Chelsea make him ineligible to move again – so expect this one to come back next summer.
