With the late speculation linking Anderlecht’s versatile midfielder Leander Dendoncker with a switch to Wolverhampton Wanderers this deadline day, the club have now confirmed his arrival.

Yesterday it was suggested he was already travelling to Wolves to undergo a medical and complete personal terms, and that has now come to pass according to the Official Website.

The 23-year-old has six caps to his name for Belgium and he was part of their World Cup squad for the tournament out in Russia this summer – facing England in the process – and he comes in officially for an undisclosed fee.

Mainly a midfielder, he also provides cover in defence and he comes in on loan but that will immediately become a permanent transfer next summer. He joins us in time to potentially debut in the weekend’s game against Everton on Saturday and he becomes our sixth senior capture of the 2018/19 summer transfer window.

Whether we are finished or not in terms of doing business we’ll have to wait and see as bizarrely a number of fans don’t believe we’ve yet made the marquee signing despite the players we’ve added – although potentially Adama Traore might tick that box, if Rui Patricio doesn’t or any of the other four!
