With Wolverhampton Wanderers’ head coach Nuno Espirito Santo calling on the team to improve their Molineux based form following our victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the final game of 2018, our 2019 portion of the campaign against Crystal Palace yesterday evening began with another wobble and a defeat.

It was a poor attacking showing from Wolves in fairness, we only registered one shot on target across the 90 minutes and Palace dominated chances overall, but could only make the breakthrough in the final ten minutes of the match. A late stoppage-time penalty made it 2-0 as we fell to defeat.

Given the poor performance, statistics website Whoscored rated the players accordingly and only one man received a score of seven-plus from the game.

28-year-old Romain Saiss is beginning to make a small habit of taking our Man of the Match on their player ratings.

Completing the top five best performers on the day were Willy Boly (6.94), Jonny (6.83), Matt Doherty (6.57) and Ivan Cavaleiro (6.52).

Another of those games we have to scrub off as a learning curve as recent efforts may have caught up with us? Either way, we’ll have days like this.
