Our Academy graduate has undergone a 12 month battle with acute leukaemia and last month he announced he was in complete remission after a tough and intensive year of treatment. That news was obviously met with joy amongst the fanbase and well wishes extended across the world of football, but there is some sadness that he now hangs up his gloves for the final time as he looks to the future and his young family.

With 274 appearances to his name across all competitions and more than 200 of those games coming for us after he joined as a fresh-faced 14-year-old, there’s plenty of love for the man and I doubt he’ll become a stranger at the Molineux.
His decision came earlier in the week and he told his colleagues at Compton on Tuesday before announcing it on twitter, so I guess he’ll still be a regular and warmly welcomed visitor to our training ground.
