Wolverhampton Wanderers closed out what has been a fantastic return to the Premier League in the season of 2018/19 as we made the trip to Anfield on Sunday to face Liverpool.

For Wolves, we had already secured seventh place and the possibility of European football next year but Liverpool were gunning for the title and they kept their hopes alive with a disappointing (from our perspective) 2-0 victory.

Few will be that disappointed with the result given the year we have had as seventh place at the beginning of the season would’ve been a dream, but we can now turn thoughts to the summer transfer window and see what kind of business the club and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo to strengthen us further as the aim now it to obviously kick on and not struggle with second season syndrome.

Statistics website Whoscored didn’t have great player ratings given the performance.

Matt Doherty took Man of the Match with a score of 6.73 and he was followed by Raul Jimenez (6.72), goalkeeper Rui Patricio (6.40), Willy Boly (6.36) and Ryan Bennett (6.31).

All eyes to the future.
