Wolverhampton Wanderers made the trip to Wembley Stadium on Sunday for the FA Cup semi-final clash with Watford and across 120 minutes of playing action it was very much a case of going from delight to despair.

It was a lively game and both sides did themselves credit, but we saw the best and worst from Wolves in many ways. Goals from Matt Doherty and Raul Jimenez gave us the 2-0 lead, but with Watford making it a one goal game with eleven minutes to spare, the stoppage-time penalty broke our hearts and changed the momentum. Sadly for us, Watford got the winner.

The disappointment was palpable, but we shouldn’t forget how good a season it has been. Next time maybe?

Statistics website Whoscored were very positive in their player ratings, despite our late heartbreak and they gave Man of the Match to Matt Doherty for his goal and assist.

Completing the top five on the day were Diogo Jota (7.92), Raul Jimenez (7.85), Romain Saiss (7.61) and Joao Moutinho (7.43).

Willy Boly and Jonny also received seven-plus scores for their efforts on the day.

Bounce back in the right manner and end the season on a high now.
