0 apps in 4 months, first-team exile – loan exit from Wolves hasn’t gone to plan for 20 y/o

Things aren’t going well for Ed Francis at Grasshopper Club Zurich. The 20-year-old joined Grasshoppers on loan in February 18 but has yet to make an appearance. Francis finds himself from Djibril Diani, Aleksandar Cvetkovic and Baba Souare in the pecking order and hasn’t even managed to make the bench.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

He was left out of the matchday squad in Grasshoppers’ 3-0 win over FC Schaffhausen (February 22), 5-0 win over FC Aarau (June 19) and in their trip to FC Winterthur (June 23). His deal at the Stadion Letzigrund runs until the end of the season, but he’s getting very little from not playing football.

Francis is named in Grasshoppers’ first-team roster for the campaign but continues to be overlooked by Ulrich Forte. The 20-year-old will be in his final season at Wolves when he returns from his loan spell and it’s hard to see Nuno Espirito Santo giving him an opportunity if he can’t get minutes for a second-tier club in Switzerland.

Is he really going to oust Willy Boly, Romain Saiss, Conor Coady or Max Kilman next season? Francis isn’t the only Wolves loanee struggling for playing time, but he risks stagnating if he can’t get minutes.
